some of the most amazing food ever!

pure Heaven 🙂

I’ve blogged  about Native Foods a few times on VeganScraps because I adore their food! They have crazy good and unique salads, sandwiches, appetizers, soups, and desserts! The chef is always

🙂

adding different/new dishes to the menu and they never disappoint! Today we my momma and I went to Westwood for a meal at Native Foods and were blown away! We started off with the

fabulous kale!

Native Nachos“($7.95) Homemade Corn Tortilla Chips covered in Black Beans, Native Taco Meat, Native Chipotle Crema, Native Cheese, Salsa Fresca, and Guacamole. Topped with Corn, Green Onions, and Cilantro. Wooh! Did you get all that?? These were divine, I mean really some of the tastiest nachos you will ever eat, as my mom said “they are in a class of their own”. This dish is an absolute *must* have, and so inexpensive for all that you get! For my mom’s entree she chose the “Oklahoma Bacon Cheeseburger($9.95) Thinly Sliced Native Original Seitan, Melted Cheddar, Caramelized Onions, and Crispy Native Bacon on a Bun slathered with BBQ Sauce and Ranch Dressing, Romaine, Carrots, Onions, and Tomato. Topped with Crunchy Battered Dill Pickle Chips. Another home run on Native Foods part. This Sandwich is HUGE- so fresh and delicious, and those ‘fried pickles’ are amazzzing!! YUMMY! For my entree I decided on the “Spring Kale Salad with Seitan”($8.95) Raw Crunchy Kale, Shredded Cabbage, Apples & Avocado tossed with a Maple Orange Dressing. Topped with Currants, Almonds, and Creamy Tahini Drizzle. I’ve been on a kale kick for the past few days and this salad was one of the best! SO healthy and had so many different ingredients to make it just perfect! Native Foods is a gem in LA! A personal favorite of mine, so be sure to check it out.. Healthy and delicious!!

Wild Buffalo Ranch Salad!

It had been a while since I’ve gone to Native Foods, but seeing that they added a couple of new items to their menu I head to head down to check it out!  They have a fantastic menu with different salads, earth bowsls, sandwiches, pizza, nachos, wraps, desserts.. SO much! I love the salads, and seitan and Native Foods so I tried a new menu item that included those items.. The “Wild Buffalo Ranch Salad ($9.95) Romaine Hearts, Jicama, Tortilla Croutons tossed in a Creamy Ranch & topped with Red Onions, Black Beans, Corn, and their Native Seitan

Mac & Cheese

Strips slathered with Louisiana Hot Sauce. Im always struck by any menu item that says ‘louisiana hot sauce’ – me being a ‘Nawlins’ native and all, I have to see how well they did at kickin up the heat (bam!).. This salad was so fantastic!  FULL of fresh black beans and crunchy veggies.. now the verdict on the ‘louisiana hot sauce ‘ : I was pleasantly surprised this actually was pretty spicy.. normally when I have anything “spicy” it means you can taste it, but they did a fantastic job of ‘kickin it up a notch’ . SO Great job on that one! I also for the longest time have been

PB Parfait ; love.

wanting to try their “mac & cheese” and today I finally did! “Freddies Mac & Cheese ($1.95)  Quinoa “super” Pasta with a cow friendly Cheese Sauce * Broccoli Trees. Soy and Wheat Free. This was really great mac and cheese!! It was very creamy and soft yummy noodles.. just perfect! Now onto dessert! Today I got the “ Peanut Butter Parfait” ($2.95) Creamy whipped Peanut Butter Filling layered between Boogie Bar Crumbles & Chocolate Chips. Agave Sweetened. Hook me up to a drip! This stuff was amazing!! Moist boogie bar pieces ( coconut, chocolate, nut bar) with the creamiest pudding like pb layered. OH my too good!! LOVE IT! I am a huge supporter of Native Foods, and am loving their new menu items!! Eat clean and Green!

I also ordered a side of ” Peppered Seitan” ($ 1.50)

Peppercorn Seitan!

Fresh Thinly Sliced Seitan Pieces flavored with fresh Peppercorn. I got some BBQ sauce on the side and dipped it. THIS WAS one of the yummiest seitans I’ve ever eaten!! Seitan is my favorite ‘meat substitute’ and this one is on the top 5 best for me!!  Last time I was there they were out of their famous cupcakes – but they were stocked up today!! I got the ” Chocolate Cupcake” ($2.95) Vegan Chocolate

Chocolate Cupcake

Batter topped with a Creamy Chocolate Frosting. I can totally see why they are famous!! The cupcake was perfectly baked and the frosting.. no words can describe it.. I could eat a tub of just the vegan frosting.. absolutely mind blowing!! Native Foods: PURE UTOPIA!

Native Foods: Westwood Village

First thing I said to myself after dining at Native Foods today.. WHY did it take me so long to get to you??! This place is one of the best vegan places I’ve eaten.. It is so GOOD! They have a few locations in LA, and today me and my mom dined at the Westwood

Asian Lettuce Wraps

location. I Loved

Classic Deli Reuben: YUM!

the area it is located in, very village like..lots of shops and college students ( ucla is right there). You order at the front and then have a seat and the food is brought out to you in a jiffy ( REALLY, I have never gotten food that fast anywhere) They have a HUGE menu

Reuben

with fantastic appetizers, homemade soups, Sandwiches, Burgers, Salads, Wraps, and Killer desserts! The staff was SO helpful and sweet to! We tried a few things and were spot on ! For our appetizer we got “Asian Lettuce Wraps” ($7.95) Lettuce Cups filled

Broccoli Curry Crunch!

with a Stir Fry of Original Seitan, Mushrooms, Jicama, Garlic and Ginger, Topped with Crispy Rice Noodles Served with a Spicy Garlic Soy Sauce on the side. I LOVE lettuce wraps, but never find “vegan stuff” in them! I loved that they had the homemade fresh seitan and the crunchy rice noodles.. this is one of my favorite appetizers! mhmm! For the first entree we split the “ Classic Deli Reuben($9.95) Thinly Sliced, Deli Style Native Reuben Seitan piled high on Grilled Marble Rye.

Potato Salad

Topped with Homemade Sauerkraut, Horseradish Cheese and a Slather of Russian Dressing. Good Goodness this sandwich was luscious. I mean the word slather in the menu description totally sells me.. I think this is my all time favorite reuben. SO much

Blueberry Cheesecake

“meat” on the sandwich with all the crunchy sauerkraut and the succulent dressing. WOW. really people GO EAT! We also split the “ Broccoli Curry Crunch Salad” (8.95) Fresh Broccoli, Cashews, Cranberries, and Chopped Native Original Seitan, all

Chocolate Caramel Cheesecake!

tossed in a savory Curry Dressing atop Romaine lettuce with Fresh Apples and a Citrus Ginger Vinaigrette. I know- SO many amazing ingredients, and let me tell you when they come together, they rock it. I love curry and this salad did it for me!! It was true to it’s name . perfect balance of curry, broccoli, and that lovely crunch! I adore this salad… yes adore.. For the sake of trying things we also got a side of ” Potato Salad ($1.95) Fresh Chunks of Potatoes, flavored with Lemon and Dill. Glad we picked this as a side. The potatoes were chunky and soft and the flavors just popped out.. a great little side or a snack!! Now onto dessert! Cheesecake seemed to be out ‘thing’ for today so we got two pieces of different cheesecakes and split! “Blueberry Cheesecake” (2.95) A rich Cream Cheese filing, Ginger Granola Crust, Served with Blueberries.
