Le Pain Quotidien…London Style..

and in my opinion everything is better in London;) Of course I’ve been to Le Pain Quotidien in the good ol’ USA, but for whatever reason the one in London seemed so much better.. perhaps it’s just that I adore London:p But really the vegan muffin here and fruit were so much better and fresher! While on my holiday I started most mornings at Le Pain Quotidien. This particular review is from the one in the SOHO area of London. To start off I’d get a “Soy Latte(E 2.50) Fresh Soymilk steamed and mixed with Expresso. There is just something about having a coffee in Europe that makes it taste THAT much better.. and trust me I was a 2 latte a day offender;) Something so lovely about sitting at a little cafe on the streets sipping a latte…<3- For my meal I decided to get the “Granola Bowl” (E3.95) Fresh Homemade Granola with seeds and nuts served with steamed soymilk. Some of the best granola I’ve had!! Crunchy, healthy and delish! Along side I ordered the “Lg. Fruit Salad Bowl” (E4.50)Fresh Mixed Fruit- Mango, Grapes, Apple, Mixed Melon, and Berries. The best thing about this place is the “Vegan Blueberry Muffin (E2.20) Fresh Vegan Batter filled with fresh Blueberries. These muffins are SO amazing! Seriously taste better than any of the ones at their cafes in the US ( sry america;)). IF you go to London you have to get one of these! MHM.. This is such a great cafe in London with tons of breakfast food, and such fresh breads and pastries! Make it a point to stop in if you ever find yourself in good ol’ London town;)

Vegan in Vegas?? heck yes!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

A few weeks ago I made my first trip to Las Vegas! I feel like Vegas is a place that everyone will have to go at least once in their life time.. So I did! I met up with my parents there for a couple of days of fun and R&R. I already knew before going that Pure Vida Bakery & Bystro was the vegan place to be while in Vegas:) Pure Vida is Las Vegas’ first and only 100% Vegan joint…and they have crazy good food! First off it’s a cute small place just a bit off the “Strip” and from the second we walked in we were taken care of and treated the best! Such a sweet and caring staff! They have a HUGE case of baked goods, a special board, lunch entrees, breakfast dishes, and drinks! It was a brunch day so we decided to do brunch foods:) The baked goods looked SO yummy that we decided to start with a “Banana Chocolate Muffin” ($4.95) Fresh Banana Batter with Chocolate Chips baked inside. This muffin

was HUGE! Full of fresh banana and gooey chocolate- it was SO good! We then decided to do a little spit type deal. The first dish was “The Wow ($10.99) A huge plate of “Cheese” quesadilla pieces, Seitan Sausage, Tofu Scramble, and Seasoned Potatoes. So much amazing food! Everything was delish! Hot, fresh, flavorful!! We also got “The Sampler” ($12.99) A sample of breakfast dishes including: Tofu Scramble, Potatoes, Bean Dip, Quesadillas. It also includes Waffles and Pancakes. I LOVED every single thing about this dish- how great to have a menu item that gives you a piece of it all! Filling and healthy nothing sinful about this good for you food!- favorite!! Pure Vida is one of the best places I’ve eaten, I am totally heading back to Vegas just for Pure Vida! If you ever hit Sin City be sure to give Pure Vida a try- you won’t be sorry! Eat Clean even in the city of sin! 🙂

I discovered this place on a whim of google searching one day. I was almost sure I had found every place in New Orleans that offered some vegan food when O! Vegasm popped up. This is a 100% Vegan Brunch a couple of cool cat vegans have just recently started up . One of the Chefs, John Morales also bakes up some delicious vegan baked goods and distributes them to a few cafes in the area as well ( way to spread the vegan love!)I have got to start by saying that these chefs are some of the most creative and daring in the vegan cooking biz .. i mean 100% Vegan brunch in NOLA.. hardcore for sure! They currently are hosting their brunch at Grits Bar (edgy) and switch up the brunch items every week (SUNDAYS), with some of the craziest dishes ever ..Things like; Pineapple Upsidedown Pancakes with Sweet Cashew Cream, Fried Green Tomatoes, Homemade English Muffins with Cream Cheese, Tuscan Scramble, O! Lasagna!, Strawberry Pancakes with Orange Blossom Basil Syrup, and SO MUCH MORE! (Check the FB Link below for a weekly menu!) My mom and I stopped in a little bit late one day (around 2) so a lot of the items were sold out BUT the lady was so sweet that she gave us a sampler plate for *free* and asked us to come back! Each week for $15.00 you get a HUGE plate of food that is worth so much more! The sample plate we got included “Homemade English Muffins with a Cream Cheese Spread”, “Polenta Cake”, “Tofu Sausage Patties”,” Tofu/Seitan Scramble”, and “Fried Green Tomatoes“.. OH MY GOODNESS , SO much but just spectacular. ALL Homemade, fresh, and vegan!! The only  100% vegan place in New Orleans and they are killin’ it!! Snoballs Etc. ; Snowballs= a *must* in New Orleans!

Ice Heaven 🙂

Snowballs are a cheap, simple idea that rock my world. It is just shaved ice with a syrup of your choice. In my case I go for the sugar free. They have a ton of flavors strawberry ( my personal favorite) , sour apple, wedding cake, ice cream, cherry, you name it they make it! They also have some fabulous sugar free flavors like; pina colada, pineapple, cajun prailine, coconut, cherry, strawberry, and so much more! I always get the “20 ounce Strawberry & Cajun Prailine Mix($2.00) Freshly shaved ice with Sugar Free Strawberry Syrup & Cajun Prailine. NEVER have a tasted such a yummy snowball! I love these, I totally stopped in twice a day for one:):) My parents and I both agree that strawberry is the winner here, BUT the Cajun Prailine paired with it is pure snowball heaven!! You have to get one if you make it down to New Orleans!

Slim Goodie’s Diner:

Slim Goodies!

Slim Goodie’s Diner is a “greasy spoon” type place, located on Magazine Street in the Garden District of the great New Orleans. At first glance you wouldn’t think this would be a place to find anything vegan, and yet we have! As far as vegan goes the options are pretty much as follows; oatmeal, grits, fruit, a tofu scramble dish, a vegan burger, chili, soups, salads, hash browns, soy milk, and some tempeh bacon! That is a lot being in New Orleans! 🙂 My mom and I dined here and since it was early we decided to try

Vegan Slammer..

their version of the ever so classic ( in the vegan world that is) ‘tofu scramble’. We got the “Vegan Slammer” ($8.50) Hash Browns, Tofu Scramble, & Smoked Tempeh Bacon smothered with Veggie Chili.  I would say that slammer was the

GRITS!!

most appropriate word for this dish! It was pretty good, we split it because it was VERY filling! It was hot and the chili and bacon were fantastic! The Tofu was a little soft for my liking but overall a good breakfast. Im also a HUGE lover of grits, so after finding out that they were vegan I had to have me some! “Grits ($1.25) Huge bowl of steaming hot Grits topped with fresh ground Pepper.  They made a fresh batch and it was a giant amount! I adore grits with fresh pepper, so these were killer!! YUM! It was all pretty delicious, just keep in mind more of a ‘hearty’ type vegan breakfast!! Eat Slim;)

Vegan down in Nawlins’ ;

Surrey's!

This past week I’ve been back in New Orleans( my native state) visiting my parents and pup, and of course I had to “try” to find some vegan goodies to enjoy in the city. Obviously when most people think of New Orleans ‘vegan’ isn’t the first word that comes to mind.. Seafood, Fried, Beignets, sweets? yes, but vegan..ha. I did a bit of research before heading down and had a couple of places in mind to try ( no restaurants in NOLA are vegan but some very vegan

Organic Fresh Fruit!

friendly). My mom and I decided to try this cafe that I had found called “Surrey’s Cafe & Juice Bar”. Situated in the quaint Lower Garden District on historic Magazine Street in New Orleans, Surrey’s offers up great breakfast, lunch, and brunch dishes. They are not totally vegan but have some yummy options like; tofu scramble, oatmeal, soy milk, fruit plates, veggie po boys, tofu sandwiches, and lovely organic juices. To start off we got a sample of the fresh squeezed OJ and it was killer-

Oatmeal!

so fresh and chilled. YUM! For our meal we got the “Cup of Fruit($4.00) Seasonal Fruit which included; Banana, Pineapple, Grapes, and Melon. Great portion for the fruit and some of the freshest fruit I’ve ever had. Then we decided to split two menu items the first being the “Oatmeal” ($4.00) Fresh Oats cooked and served with Brown Sugar, and Fruit. What a huge portion for only $4! It was really delicious to. It was cooked just right, and served with some soy milk! I

Tofu Breakfast Platter

love a great bowl of oatmeal!! Then we had to try the “Tofu Breakfast Platter” ($7.75) Soy & Ginger Marinated Tofu Sauteed with Bell Peppers, Mushrooms, and Onions. Served with Brown Rice.  This could have passed as a “tofu stir fry” but it worked for breakfast as well! Wonderful flavors!; I don’t know what they did to it but it was so good, I ate every bite!! YUMMY! So happy to see New Orleans offering up some vegan goodies for us! Surrey’s is a must if your in New Orleans, even if you just want a fresh organic juice! Eat clean and green folks!

The OTHERside Cafe:

The OTHERside Cafe:

The first thing I did before heading to Boston was find a great place to get a vegan lunch! The OTHERside Cafe got my vote so my first stop was to Newbury Street for some OTHERside Cafe grub:) This place is suited for a more rocker type loud

Hummus Platter ($4.56)

experience. Not a place to go if you want a quiet peaceful lunch.. A lot of local students stop in and in general a younger crowd.. This cafe isn’t 100% vegan but MOST things can be made vegan and they have a BIG variety of vegan options.. Sandwiches, Soups, Wraps, Raw

Combination Plate ($9.81)

Dishes, Desserts, Salads, Smoothies, Burritos, and Brunch on the weekend. LOTS! I wanted to get a bit of variety to review so here goes.. I started off with the 1/2 Hummus Platter ( $4.56) House-Made Hummus Served with Tomato, Cucumber, Onion, Carrot, and Pita Bread. This was great! I loved that I can order the 1/2 ( whole is $9.75). The Hummus was fresh and creamy with pieces of Garlic to flavor it up with Crisp Veggies, and Thin Pita Bread. A fantastic light appetizer! Then I chose there Chili/Tempeh Salad Combo ($9.81) Vegan Chili made with

Bon Bons ($4)

Organic Beans, Tomatoes, Corn, and Bulgar Wheat. Served with Grilled Tempeh Salad with Mixed Greens, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Onions, and Carrots. The Chili was spectacular thick and full of fresh veggies and seasoned just right! Very filling and hearty! The

Simple Divine.

Salad was pretty simple, I love tempeh but it could have used a bit more seasoning.. I wasn’t overly impressed with the salad but the chili was kickin;) and for dessert…try not to drool as I explain what I had.. “Chocolate Cookie Dough Bon Bons ($4.00) 2 round Chocolate Covered Cookie Dough Balls. These things were packed with Antioxidants and fresh Vegan Cookie Dough.. Smooth and Crunchy Chocolate Chips covered with Melting Chocolate.. Oh my word  absolutely DIVINE.. They just melted in my mouth ( they also offer Peanut Butter Bon Bons) These are not made on the premises but shipped in from Sugar Me – a pure genius!… I love the fact that they’ve created vegan cookie dough as a treat – I mean it’s perfect for kids… “raw” cookie dough that can’t hurt you?!! They think of everything! These should be at the top of your Vegan dessert hit list my friends.. you have no idea what your missing…. This place  had a great vibe and a great staff! So check it out!!

while enjoying a nice cup of joe:) Expresso Royale Caffe has 3 locations in Boston, I visited the one on Newbury Street ( the “Rodeo Drive” of Boston if you will) . They had 3 different vegan goodies but I decided to try the ” Tea Cake” ($3.00) Wheat Batter filled with Chocolate Chips, Dried Fruit, and Banana  molded to a perfect cake for one. This was really delicious and very much enjoyed with a cup of there jasmine green tea! A filling scrumptious vegan goody that I was happy I stumbled upon! The staff was friendly, and they kept very busy! If your ever touring around Boston, Newbury Street is a must so while your there make a stop in at ERC for a hot cup of somethin’ and a little vegan treat! Eat Clean and Green!

Govinda's

A great place to grab a quick Vegan lunch in Philadelphia is Govinda’s just two doors down from Sweet Freedom Bakery ( vegan desserts) it offers delicious items like vegan cheese steaks, Hoagies and Subs, Salads, Soups, Burritos and Wraps, and Desserts ( although Sweet Freedom is better for desserts!) Anywho I decided to have a quick bite to eat while in the city so here goes! Being in Philly and all I had to somehow incorporate the whole ” Cheese Steak” into my experience.. I didn’t feel like a sandwich so I got a ” Chicken Cheese Steak Salad” ($11.50) Spring Greens with Tomatoes, Black Olives, and Carrots in a Special House Dressing ( made from: raw sunflower seeds, evoo, tamari, fresh basil, and secret spices) topped with Soy Chicken and Soy Cheese. This Salad was
