EL Coyote Fajitas!

Real Food Daily offers up some amazing healthy food dishes! They have different specials every month, a great list of salads, sandwiches, classic meals like a tv dinner, some fantastic mexican food, and tasty desserts! I’ve been there a few times before and the food is always great! I normally go to the one in West Hollywood but today my mom and I ventured to Santa Monicato try

Basic Two! Flavors were def. not basic!

that RFD out 🙂 I got one of my favorite menu items at RFD the caesar salad which has already been reviewed on the blog but we did have a couple of new items to blog about! My mom ordered the special this month the ” El Coyote Fajitas” ($15.95) Seasoned Seitan, Onions, Peppers, Pinto Beans, Green Rice, Guacamole, Pico De Gallo, Tofu Sour Cream, and Soft Corn

Parfait

Tortillas. I will start by saying that she wiped her plate clean, with a *little* help from me ;). These fajitas were some of the best I’ve had! Great portion of grilled seitan with fresh veggies to stack on the warm tortilla! The rice was exceptionally yummy to!! Nothing bad to say about this dish, you must try it!! We also got the “Basic Two (Salisbury Seitan & Pressed Salad) ($7.95)

YUM!

Fresh Squares of Salisbury Seitan & Shredded Cabbage with a Vinegar Dressing. Moist and “meaty” pieces of very flavorful seitan which were perfect, and a crunchy tasty pressed salad.. nothing better!! For dessert we decided to try something we hadn’t had before the “Parfait” ($3.95) Layers of Chocolate Mousse, a Whip Topping, and Chocolate Cake made into a lovely Parfait. This was moist, fluffy, and scrumptious simply put. RFD has some really great desserts!! I am a big fan of RFD, some may argue the prices are a bit steep on some things and thats probably true but one bite and suddenly you forget the price on the menu;) Eat Clean and yummy!

ah Real Food Daily…so we meet again..

Lima Bean Soup

I’m no stranger when it comes to eating at Real Food Daily. A 100% vegan restaurant located on La Cienega Blvd right by the Beverly Center. They also have a location in Santa Monica:) I’ve been here a few times before and reviewed them quite a bit..They have a great menu, full of healthy vegan food and the desserts are pretty sweet ( no pun intended;)} Today I stopped in for a bite to eat since I was planning on

Mexicali Chop & Taco Meat

meandering around the Beverly Center after. I started off with a cup of their soup of the day Lima Bean Soup” ($3.95) Fresh Lima Beans in a light Broth with Cabbage seasoned lightly. I really enjoyed this soup to start! It was a little chilly outside today ( well, chilly for LA anyways) and it sounded good to me. Normally I’m not a huge lima bean person but this soup was very hot and delicious! After my luscious

Mexicali Chop & Taco Meat

soup I decided to order one of their many salads ( because what pairs better with soup than salad? :)} I ordered the “Mexicali Chop add Taco Meat“($13.75 + $2.75 (Taco Meat)) Pinto Beans, Avocado(I opted out), Seasonal Vegetables, Romaine Lettuce, Baked Tortilla Strips served with a Lime Cilantro Dressing. Additional Seasoned Seitan Taco Meat. What a tasty salad! I really enjoyed the very flavorful tortilla strips and added Taco meat, it gives all of those delicious vegetables the extra kick to bring this salad to perfect! MHM. My one complaint about RFD is the prices. I mean you can get the same thing at other vegan places in LA for a lot cheaper.. For example this salad started at $13.75 without any type of protein ( aside from beans) so you have to add some for $2.75 which brings it to $16.50 at Native Foods you can get the “Yo Amigo Taco Salad“, same size already with meat for only $.8.95…. I love RFD but come on guys cut the prices a little bit! 🙂 Still much love for your food and health for all of us vegan foodies out there! Eat Healthy!

RFD: an old favorite:)

Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus

So Im not a stranger to Real Food Daily in West Hollywood because there food is super fantastic. Located right by the Beverly Center on La Cienega ( they also have a location in Santa Monica) they are right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the city:) They have an extensive menu with soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, pasta, entrees, mexican, mixed plates, appetizers, sunday brunch and monthly specials that change each week,, OH and some pretty freaking amazing desserts! The staff is friendly and the ambience of the place is warm and

The Club

inviting-just how I like it to be! So lets begin shall we? Today me and my mom decided to try a new appetizer “Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus ($10.25) Homemade Chickpea Dip, Carrots & Celery with Wheat Free Rice Sesame Crackers. This was really tasty hummus, had a nice smokey flavor to it and paired great with the crudites and crackers.. perfect start! One thing I love about having company for lunch is the fact that we can order two dishes and split..so we did:) We got a sandwich we had eaten before and LOVED so we stuck with that and ordered again… “ The

YUM

Club” ($13.75) Seitan, Tempeh Bacon, Avocado, Lettuce, Tomato, Vegenaise, served on Sourdough Bread ( we subbed for Hemp Bread- which was BOMB) served with a side Caesar Salad. This club is crazy good.. The bacon is crisp, the seitan is soft and the flavors just pop in your mouth, really people a *must*.. The Caesar Salad served on the side is one of my all time favorites..I don’t know what they use to make their croutons but they are pure yum! We also split. “The Basic 4” ($11.95) Salisbury Seitan, Millet & Quinoa, Pressed Salad, and Steamed

Basic 4

Veggies. The Basic is *basically* a list of different veggies, grains, and proteins and you create your own along with one of their many sauces.. SO many choices and all are delicious! The BBQ sauce is killer! The Seitan was perfectly cooked,  Millet & Quinoa was perfectly steamed, and I LOVE the pressed salad..which is basically a coleslaw and so delicous!! This is a great way to try different items! Last but NOT least dessert! We normally split a cookie at RFD because they are so tasty but something different caught our eye today.. “ Mocha Cake” ($7.25) Dark

Piece of Heaven:)

Chocolate Espresso flavored Cake, Rich Chocolate Filling, with a Coffee Buttercreme. OH MY WORD I am SO happy we ordered this cake, it was one of the best vegan desserts I’ve eater! Had a lovely taste of espresso mixed with the chocolate filling.. I have died and gone to vegan cake heaven… p.s. serve this cake at the funeral;).. GREAT meal at RFD! Yes, they are a little bit pricier than some other vegan places in the LA area , but occasionally RFD is a great old favorite to pop in and enjoy! Eat Clean!

Acai Berry Tea ($3.95)

So I’ve blogged a few things for RFD before, but none of them were as nice as this one will be..and certainly didn’t do them justice.. so heres a post from a recent trip to one of my favorite vegan joints in LA. Before I left LA I wanted to get by for a little something amazing to eat.. Real Food Daily is one of my favorite places in Hollywood to eat! They offer monthly unique specials, soups, sandwiches, main entrees, wraps, fresh juices, desserts, Sunday brunch and some fantastic appetizers:) So today I started off with one of the best teas around “Acai Berry Tea”($3.95) Freshly iced Tea with a mix of Acai and Berry flavoring. I adore this tea.. I

Caesar with Tempeh ($11)

have to be honest it is the biggest reason I love this place! You may think that $3.95 is expensive for tea but it is free refills, and if your like me you get your moneys worth:D For my main entree I got the “Caesar Salad with Blackened Tempeh($11.00 or $8.25 without the Tempeh) Romaine Hearts,

BBQ ($1.50)

Capers, Wheat-Free Blue Corn Croutons, Caesar Dressing with Blackened Tempeh. This is a very delicious caesar salad! I love the fact that they add capers to it.. so unordinary for a caesar but makes it taste even better. The Croutons on this salad are to die for.. the best I’ve ever had! Next, I normally don’t review sauces on

Dessert:)

their own,  but the “Hickory BBQ Sauce“($1.50) is the *best* BBQ ever to be eaten. You may find this a little gross but I drizzle it on my salad..and anything else I ever order at RFD ( yes, it is *that* good- I promise)..All the sauces are made fresh on the premises! Now onto dessert…because what is a meal without a good vegan dessert?! I got a couple of things to take for later -which are amazing:) “ Oatmeal Currant Cookie” ($3.25) Fresh Oats mixed with Dried Currants baked to perfection. This is a fantastic cookie.. a little edgy with those currants (watch out oatmeal raisin, the currants are comin‘;) } A tasty cookie that goes great with some acai tea( but what doesn’t?). Next up the “Dark Fudge Brownie” ($4.25) Cakey Chocolate and Chunks of Chips. This is a very “sweet” dessert! It is super delicious if you like “sweet” tasting desserts! Just melts in your mouth.. so, so good.. RFD never disappoints me.. I love the fact that their menu takes a unique approach to some average foods.. A place to stop into if your in LA. (They also have a place in Santa Monica).:) Eat Clean and Healthy:)

or simply “The Caesar Wrap” – that was my meal of choice today at RFD. After my long trek from Wilshire to La Cienega Blvd ( where RFD is located). The Caesar wrap is pretty self explanatory I guess.. It comes with romaine lettuce, dressing, and blackened tempeh wrapped in a spinach tortilla. I got a side of potato salad with mine and some BBQ sauce because everything taste better with RFD BBQ sauce on it:) So all in all this was a nice meal. Great for a hot day because it comes cold.. Delicious like everything at RFD:)

We went to lunch at Real Food Daily my vegan favorite, I’ll get to food reviewing in a minute but first let me say they seated us next to Sarah Wright ( Made of Honor, 7th Heaven) – we started chatting with her and she is so nice and the sweetest Celebrity I’ve met. She even gave me her email so she could help out with the film stuff. Such a sweet and kind hearted person.

Now to the food.. We started off with the Wabi Sabi Rolls .. Cabbage, cucumber, carrot, mint, rice noodles, in rice paper with wasabi dressing. absolutely yummy and so light! Then we went mexican and got the El Bandito Rojo wheat and gluten free corn enchiladas, seasoned tempeh, salsa roja, spanish rice, black beans, pico de gallo, tofu sour cream, and guac.. This was delicious the salsa roja was so good topped off a perfect pair of enchiladas! We also split the Caesar Salad with blackened tempeh. also extremely good. the portions are huge and yummy perfect for splitting! thats all for now . check it out! Realfood.com

So a food review: Today for lunch I went back to pretty much my favorite restaurant ever here in LA. Real Food Daily.. The daily part describes it best.. I could eat this everyday the menu is huge, but don’t worry I’ll try it all and give a review:D . Today we ordered the BLT Tartine as an appetizer which is little crisp pieces of bread with basically an open face tempeh blt, vegan mayo, avocado, tomato, and lettuce. This was delicious the bread was crisp, and the tempeh cooked to perfection. Then we went mexican and split the Tac’O Town tacos filled with seitan, onions, peppers, pico de gallo, tofu sour cream, rice and black beans. these were absolutely the best mexican tacos I have ever eaten! Messy.. yes.. but so worth it. just get extra napkins! We also got the Mexicali Salad- figure we’d stick to the mexican theme here.. a salad filled with pinto beans, avocado, corn, seasonal vegetables, romaine lettuce, and a cilantro-lime dressing. A great salad very filling and a tangy dressing. super super good. Then of course we got a couple of those yummy cookies to go… OH and that acai tea that i adore.. MHM. love it here!

SO I’ve been wanting to try “Real Food Daily” and today me and my mom went and did! It’s about 2 miles from my apartment , right near the Beverly Center. so really close. Let me start of with the Acai Berry Tea- the best tea I’ve ever had AND free refills, I definitely got my moneys worth, I think they refilled me 4 or 5 times then got one to go:) Obviously I would say if you ever get to Real Food Daily in West Hollywood start of with a refreshing glass of Acai Tea. Then we got as an appetizer the “Nori Maki Rolls” pretty much like vegan sushi but exceptionally good with sweet brown rice, shiso, tempeh, avocado, carrot, collard greens, umeboshi, tamari, wasabi, and pickled ginger with a sweet and tangy dipping sauce. Then we decided to get two things and split. We took the waitors recommendation for a good sandwich and got “The Club” which consisted of seitan, tempeh bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and veganaise on delicious organic bread accompanied with your choice of a house salad or caesar, being the caesar lover that I am we got that! We also decided to split a Basic 5 plate ( you choose five sides of different things) we got Seitan Salisbury, lentils, pressed salad, potato salad, and collard greens with a hickory BBQ dipping sauce. really healthy and earthy if you will. YUM. Then we got a peanut butter cookie, a currant oatmeal cookie, and brownie to try a but of each. Melt in your mouth good. This place is definitely a favorite and a place I’ll be a frequent at. Come to West Hollywood and experience the delicousness for yourself.. taste is worth a thousand words:)
